Odoo (Open ERP) is a suite of enterprise management applications, targeting Small, Medium and Multinational Enterprises encompassing several departments. Odoo streamlines all managements segments like Manufacturing, Finance and Accounting, Purchase, Sales, Warehouse, Customer Relationship Management, Human Resource, Point of Sale, Ecommerce and Website, Project Management, Document Management under one roof, thereby improving the efficiency and productivity of an enterprise. Inspired Enterprise Solutions was founded in 2019 by Eng. Omar Mounir as a One-person Limited Liability company splitting off the customer-facing part of our import/ distribution company Global Communication & acting as a reseller/ partner specialized in the  audio video communication & conferencing equipment in Egypt.

But this is not where we originally started. Nearly 40 years ago in 1986, Global Communication was founded by my father Eng. Ahmed Kamal with a specific purpose: to supply wireless telecommunication equipment. From our earliest days as a trusted supplier, we have grown alongside our partners, adapting to new technologies, market shifts, and customer needs. 

The Challenges We Faced

For the past decade, we have been facing multiple challenges in running & growing our business operations. It became clear that our existing software environment couldn’t help us growing our business needs. We were running 6 different software systems (SAP B1, Shopify, Zoho, Quicken, Mailchimp, & Hootsuite) alongside Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments— a setup that created complexity instead of efficiency. We needed to simplify our operations so we can handle more business workload, reduce time to market, reduce time to onboard new brands/ products/ solutions, maintain efficient & up-to-date channels of communication, & deliver faster more reliable service to our customers.

Inspired Enterprise Solutions' journey with Odoo

• After exploring the business software market, we decided to use Odoo chose to embark on a project to fully migrate & consolidate all our existing software functions fully to Odoo. 
• Initially, we tried working with several Odoo partners but our search for a partner left us unsatisfied. As a customer we were looking to create a win-win partnership with honest professional advice & expertise to help in implementing the Odoo software. We soon realized that with our own extensive expertise and determination we are more capable of delivering this transformation ourselves. 
• In 2023, we decided to accept the challenge & start another chapter of our business journey by registering Inspired Enterprise Solutions as an Odoo partner.
• In 2024, we completed the Odoo partner certification course.
• During 2024, we've succeeded in:
• 1. Implementing our core business functions through Odoo apps (Accounting, Inventory, Purchase, Sales, Expenses, Contacts)
  2. Doing daily data entry in both SAP B1 and Odoo in parallel until data accuracy reached 95% between both companies
  3. Upgrading from Odoo v.16 to v.17 with zero down-time
  4. Officially shutting down SAP B1 at the end of the year
• In 2025, we went on to expand our business functions achieving the following milestones:
• 1. Setting up a virtual cloud private server for hosting Odoo, then moving our database from our physical server to the cloud server with zero down-time
  2. Implementing the following business functions through Odoo apps (Events, CRM, & Social Marketing).
  3. Launching our new & updated websites for Global Communication (https://www.global-comm.com) & Inspired Enterprise Solutions (https://www.ie-solutions.net) using Odoo Website & E-commerce apps
  4. Launching our new software & services business divisions capitalizing on our extensive experience starting with our Odoo Implementation & Odoo Hosting Services.

• The implementation methodology we support is a “phased approach - app by app”. In various phases, we implement Odoo in the different departments of your organization. This way we avoid the big bang approach.
• Always prioritizing critical core functionality “MVP” over optional nice to have features which can be implemented at a later phase without jeopardizing project successful on-time completion while at the same time maximizing ROI.
• Avoid any unnecessary customization/ development in the initial implementation stage for any app/ module while focusing on basic features to reach project objectives.
• Focus on “win-win” collaborative approach between customer & partner defining from the start of the project who will do what and from which side.

Implementation is a very important phase to run a successful project. Odoo modularity allows a phased approach, app by app. Implementing in several coherent phases, with regular production releases and an evolving takeover of Odoo by the end users, has demonstrated its effectiveness over time. This approach also helps to identify gaps and apply corrective actions early in the implementation.
